Why First Floor?
Many people asked me previously as to why I bought a Level 1 condo unit.
My honest answer is: safety and convenience to my wife and children, and of course myself.
Most of us have read the so many unanticipated accidents that have occurred on high-rise residences in different countries here and there; so living on the first floor eliminates that danger.
Secondly, when there is an electrical cut-off, it is so easy to just climb one flight of stairs into my unit from the ground floor. Not to say that this has happened frequently at Royal Domain; but indeed it has oddly happened twice or thrice, in the past three years I’ve been living in my unit with my wife and kids. Those who dwell on the 30th floor, 20th floor, just sit at the very bottom of the emergency staircase because they just don’t have the energy to climb up to their units. Which is very frustrating and annoying especially after a hard day's work.
Thirdly, there has been many times when I happened to be at work, or elsewhere; but I had to return quickly to Royal Domain just to fetch or send some things quickly. These were more of hop-in and hop-out visits; and the fact that my unit is just on the first floor, and close to the side road, really helps this. I just park my car downstairs, put on my hazard light and run up quickly. Something I really couldn’t do if I lived on a high floor or somewhere in the middle.
